Welcome to the GEM Network!
Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) nurse roles are key enablers of excellent care for older patients in emergency departments, and more than 130 such roles have been created in hospitals across Ontario. GEM nurses support interdisciplinary assessment, liaise with family members, support the training and education of the emergency department team to build capacity in emergency care for older people and use and contribute to the development of senior friendly standards, policies and processes within and external to hospitals.
Provincial Geriatrics Leadership Ontario is working to connect GEM practitioners across the province. PGLO is also supporting new GEM programs to get started. GEM nurses and team members are invited to comment on an initial GEM logic model and Getting Started Guide and share feedback with Kelly Kay, Executive Director at kelly.kay@geriatricsontario.ca
